art ltd. May/June 2017.  Today more expansive feminisms are trending in the era of transgender politics and once again Rachel Lachowicz  is driving the conversation. Lachowicz prefixes red lipstick onto satirical homages of iconic minimalist works in her feminist interventions in minimalism to transgress gender binaries. Her “feminimalist” work fuses aesthetic complexity with conceptual rigor. Lachowicz was internationaly acclaimed in the early 90s and refused to abandon feminism when it became the bad f-word. Lachowicz’ 1992 lipstick coated urinals ( included in the Fort Leaderdale museum’s centennary of Duchamp’s urinals)  anticipated the controversy over bathroom access and gender logos at the center of transgender politics.
